In Korean, expressions like “처럼” or “같이” are frequently used metaphorically to liken certain characteristics to animals or elements of nature. Examples include 호랑이처럼 무섭다 (someone intimidating as being as scary as a tiger), 거북이처럼 느리다 (someone who tends to be slow in their actions as moving like a turtle), 돼지처럼 뚱뚱하다 (someone as being as plump as a pig) and 바다처럼 마음이 넓다 (praising someone’s generosity as having a heart as vast as the sea).
