Past/Complete

Present

I. Examples

“-든” or “-든지” are used to express multiple choices or options given. For example, they can be used in phrases like “가든(지) 말든(지)” (whether go or not), “비싸든(지) 싸든(지) 상관없이” (no matter whether expensive or cheap), “커피든(지) 차든(지)” (whether coffee or tea).

II. Grammar Point

1. A/V/N + “-든지 – 든지”

2. “-든지 안 -든지” / “-든지 말든지” / “-든지 못-든지”

When contrasting with A, instead of using the form “A든지 B든지,” you can also use the form “A든지 not A든지,” where the contrasting element to A is B. In other words, in order to stress the contract between two options, “-든지 안 -든지 (whether A or not A)” / “-든지 말든지 (whether A or not)” / “-든지 못-든지 (whether can… or cannot…)” are also used.

3.

4. -겠- (future) + 든지 = X
